Quest Information
Step 1: Obtain a UT EID (If you have one from last year, then skip to step 2)
· Go to http://quest.cns.utexas.edu/
· Click on ‘log in’
· Click on ‘I need a UT EID’
· Click on ‘continue’
· Enter the required information (click on all ‘no’) and click ‘continue’
· Enter the required information (asterisks- be sure to give an email address that you can access)
o WRITE DOWN YOU PASSWORD
· Click on ‘create UT EID’
o WRITE DOWN YOU ID
*** I cannot retrieve your password or ID so make sure you keep it somewhere you can find!!***
Step 2: Register as a student in my class
· Go to the quest homework service at hhtp://quest.cns.utexas.edu/
· Click on ‘log in’
· Log in using you UT EID and password you created in step 1
· Click on ‘enroll in new course’
· For the unique ID#, type in what your teacher gave your class period.
o Ex: period 3 would be Baker 3, or rr3 for richardson
· Click on ‘look up course info’
· Use scroll down menu to select the correct physics course at Katy High School for Fall 2015. Be sure that you are in the right physics class. Click on ‘request enrollment’
· At this point, you will have to wait for your teacher to approve your enrollment. So, let me know when you are ready!
Step 3: Pick up you 1st homework assignment (once your enrollment has been approved)
· Click on the ‘my course’ tab at the top of the screen
· Click on ‘HW#!’ and print out a copy of your first homework assignment. It is helpful to print out 2 or 4 pages to a page and work out eh problems on paper first.
Quest tips
1. Units are not necessary in Quest
2. If you retry too many times, it hurts your grade. Work the problems out on paper first
3. Exponents must be written as follows--
Answer: 2.45 x 10 -8 Enter into Quest: 2.45e-08
Answer: 4.44 x 1012 Enter into Quest: 4.44e12
4. A maximum of 6 digits can be entered into quest for an answer
5. There are different questions for every student!
